The construction of the palace was started by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and was completed by Mirza Raja Jai Singh and Sawai Jai Singh, over a period of about two centuries. This red sandstone and white marble palace is a masterpiece combination of Mughal and Hindu style of architecture.
